RIPtape.moe - Mixtape.moe shutting down
I predicted this happening since I started using it, but more imminently from about 3 months ago. When Mixtape needed to raise over $300 a month and was struggling to hit the mark, with every month increasing that target, I knew it was a ticking time bomb.
That’s why I invested in a personal file server for my own use.
If you are a fan of my work and want to preserve it, I think it’s about time you start going through the blog posts, back to front, and saving out all the images and videos uploaded on mixtape.moe. Come February 10th, they will never be accessible again.
I have no personal interest in exerting the effort to archive the work. I live in the present and look to the future, with no special attachment to the past beyond acknowledging my achievements, failures, and lessons learned. But if someone else wants to archive the pieces and upload them somewhere, I will be more than willing to post the archive. Depending on the size, I might mirror the archive onto my own file server, to give it some degree of permanence.
Similarly, if you lads and ladies are fans of any other artists who might use mixtape.moe, you should definitely relay this information to them.
Fack. And me without any viable alternatives besides maybe Imgur, and I hate Imgur.
RIP Mixtape. Your convenience and ease of use will be missed.
Oh fuck no. Sad times, since everything I make is hosted there. Like most people, I don’t give a fuck about archiving my old work, so if you want it, save it now. Also, now everyone needs an alternative.
Anyone have any ideas?
